Gareth Milne

Since graduating in 2004 from AUT in Auckland Gareth worked under top Sports Podiatrists and Sports Physicians at Sportsmed in his hometown of Christchurch, going on to work in Melbourne in similar surroundings with Lifecare Sports Medicine before coming back to New Zealand to open the clinic in Queenstown in 2009.

Ongoing education has been a big part of Gareth's career, gaining additional training in:

Shockwave Therapy
Foot mobilisation
Prolotherapy and Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT)
Dry Needling
Ski boot fitting and 3D custom medical orthotic manufacture
Tendon injury management

Gareth has enjoyed competing in endurance sport having completed a number of half marathon, mountain marathon and half ironman events and the famous Ironman NZ in Taupo.  He is also a keen skier and is looking forward to getting around the mountain more with his primary school aged daughter.

He understands about sporting injuries and training loads which is an advantage in helping his patients realise their potential.

Renee Thorpe

Sports Podiatrist

Since graduating from the University of South Australia in 2015, Renee has practised podiatry in both Australia and Canada where she gained knowledge in a wide range of different sporting injuries.
Renee has a keen interest in chronic musculoskeletal injuries and is adaptive towards her treatment approach. By understanding the patient’s needs, Renee is able to involve the patient in their treatment plan to help them achieve their goals.

After completing Te Araroa, Renee was drawn to the mountains of New Zealand where, depending on the weather, she enjoys tramping and snowboarding. Renee has now taken up running and is currently training for her first marathon.

Ongoing education has also been a big part of Renee’s career, gaining additional training in:

Foot mobilisation
Ski boot fitting
3D custom medical orthotic manufacture
Dry needling
Gait re-training
Shockwave Therapy

Alita Milne

Practice Manager

Alita comes from a background in legal work both in New Zealand and Australia but has been the friendly face at the front desk since the clinic opened in 2009.  She is a joint owner of the clinic with Gareth, is the backbone of all our systems and processes and will do what she can to help get you the best information to get the best outcome for you.

Outside of the clinic she enjoys getting out with Charlie and has a new enthusiasm for skiing with her daughter Tilly.

Charlie

Doggo Duties

Charlie is the newest member to our team.  She has recently come to Queenstown from Tauranga.  Although still in training Charlie will be the clinic concierge who takes care of first up introductions when you arrive!

Despite her size (fully grown she will be 60-80kgs) she is very friendly and gentle.  She typically hangs out at reception but if you're not so fond of dogs she won't be offended - just let reception know and she can hang out behind the counter.
